Big Garden Bird Watch Offers

The RSPB run a Big Garden Bird watch every January and it is a great opportunity, to not only help with recording of sightings of Garden Birds, but to sit down and view which birds visit your Garden.

It is easy to miss birds that visit your garden when we just look out occasionally. So sitting down and watching consistently for about an hour over that weekend is sometimes an eye opener.

Of course it is good to fill up all your feeders regularly and to make sure they are full for the weekend especially. Birds will soon find another feeding sight if your bird feeders lie empty for a period. Also valuable energy can be lost for a bird flying into your garden if occasionally you put food out but sometimes the feeders are empty. So try to be consistent and use good wild bird husbandry clean your feeders frequently and fill them up before they become empty. Use a variety of foods to cater for all garden Birds such as Sunflower Hearts, Peanuts, Niger, Mealworms, Suet and a general bird seed mixture.

Often different foods require different feeders to prevent waste and allow easy access for feeding.
